I acquired Casey about 6 years ago from the SPCA in Houston. Three months prior to that, I had to put my 14 year old cat, Maurice, to sleep. He looked like a Norwegian Forest cat with stripes, long hair and all. One day I decided I was quite tired of not having a cat greet me at the front door when I came home from work, so I went over to the SPCA, and there Casey was. He was playful and alert in his cage, and he looked very much like my previous cat, so I adopted him right off. Casey only weighed about 7-1/2 lbs at 2 years old then but now weighs 19 lbs, about right for this breed of adult male cat He’s not much different than we are. When it’s time to go to bed, he goes and eats a little, drinks some water, uses his litter box and puts me to bed. That means he lies on the bed with me while I read, and then when I turn out the light, he jumps down and goes to his own bed in the living room. Every night it’s the same thing. He can read my mind, too. Whenever I need to give him eardrops, I don’t even have to look at him. He just knows. I have to try to fool him somehow to get him. A good friend of mine, who pet sits for me sometimes, says Casey has a very wise old soul. I think I agree with her. Carol M.
